It has always been understood that gaining competency in HRA is difficult and having mentors to work with greatly improves the timeline to competency in the field. What has been less recognized is that teaching HRA likewise involves a carefully honed skillset. 

The purpose of this course is to introduce best practices for educators training new HRA providers.  The course will be initiated prior to the opening of the upcoming IANS Scientific Meeting November 10^th, 2023.  Following the in-person session, the course will continue as an online seminar series. 

The course will include methodology for HRA skills development, recognizing common problems for new learners, utilizing hands-on tools for HRA, Digital Anal Rectal exam, biopsy and treatment, and assessment of HRA and treatment metrics to determine competency. 

Creating a cadre of trained educators will greatly help new providers learn the skills faster, enhancing competency and availability for screening and anal cancer prevention. This new IANS course offering will establish standards for training and education in High Resolution Anoscopy.  

The course will be offered at no cost to IANS’ members.
